Gas prices are up again

Source News 10 Team: Rochester experienced a slight increase in gas prices on Monday, with the average price per gallon reaching $3.76, which was nine cents higher than the previous week. However, prior to this increase, the gas prices in Rochester had remained steady for three consecutive weeks.

On a national level, the average gas price stood at $3.80 per gallon, showing a 16-cent increase compared to the previous week. The week before that, the national average had risen by three cents.

According to AAA, the significant jump in gas prices can be attributed to a 15% rise in oil prices during July. Additionally, the extreme heat experienced in various parts of the country has led to lower production volumes at several oil refineries.

Rochester’s average gas price is slightly below the state’s average, which reached $3.82 per gallon after a 12-cent increase. Amongst upstate New York cities, Watertown had the highest gas price at $3.85 per gallon, while Batavia boasted the cheapest gas price at $3.71 per gallon.

A recent survey conducted by GasBuddy revealed that the cheapest gas station in Rochester on Sunday was selling gas at $3.55 per gallon, while the most expensive station charged 44 cents more. For those seeking the cheapest local gas stations, GasBuddy provides a helpful link.

Compared to the previous year, the average gas price is currently cheaper for the state, Rochester, and the nation as a whole. To explore gas price trends further, AAA’s website offers comprehensive information.
